McGregor insists Celtic are 'as good as anyone' in Europe

Celtic captain Callum McGregor has hit back at Manchester City midfielder Rodri's claim that Celtic are not at the level of Europe's top sides.

Rodri made the comments after City's 6-3 win over Celtic in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The Spain international said: "We know that Celtic are not at the level of the top teams in Europe.

But McGregor has now responded to Rodri's comments, insisting that Celtic are 'as good as anyone' in Europe.

"I think we showed tonight that we can compete with anyone," McGregor said.

"We played against a top team in Manchester City and we more than held our own.

"We created chances and we could have scored more goals.

"I think we showed that we are a good team and we can compete with anyone in Europe.

"We are not afraid of anyone and we will go into every game believing that we can win.

"We have a lot of quality in our team and we are confident that we can achieve great things this season.

McGregor's comments come after Celtic's impressive start to the season.

The Hoops have won all four of their competitive matches so far, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.

They will now face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
