Warriors fall, 118-94, in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors' season came to an end Tuesday night in Sacramento, as the Kings eliminated the Warriors from the NBA play-in tournament with a 118-94 win.
The Kings, who entered the game as the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They led by as many as 24 points in the first half and took a 62-45 lead into the break.
The Warriors, who were the No. 8 seed in the West, never could get anything going offensively. They shot just 39.8% from the field and 28.6% from three-point range. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 27 points, but he was just 9-of-27 from the field.
The Kings, meanwhile, shot 50.6% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range. De'Aaron Fox led the way with 31 points, while Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The loss ends the Warriors' season and marks the first time they have failed to make the playoffs since 2019. It also marks the end of an era for the Warriors, as Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are all entering the final years of their contracts.
The Kings, meanwhile, will advance to the first round of the playoffs, where they will face the No. 1 seed Denver Nuggets.
